Medical air transport · worldwide · based in Barcelona
Ambulancia Aerea arranges medical repatriation by air ambulance, commercial airline and land transport, plus on-the-ground medical correspondent services for insurers — coordinated end to end by our own medical team.
What we do
We arrange medical repatriation for patients who need to travel home, and we act as the on-the-ground medical correspondent for insurers and assistance companies when a policyholder falls ill abroad.
For medically stable patients, especially over long distances — in a standard seat, a seat with extra legroom, or on a stretcher, depending on condition.
See transport criteria →A dedicated aircraft fitted as an intensive care unit for patients at risk of complications, or who must travel lying flat with full medical support.
See transport criteria →Saloon car, minivan, ambulance or train, chosen by the patient's mobility and stability — always accompanied by medically trained staff.

A repatriation involves dozens of moving parts. We run all of them under one case file so the family only has to make one call.
You call the 24/7 line. A coordinator opens the case and requests the current medical report.
We review the patient's present condition and history, then decide the appropriate means of transport.
We book the aircraft, vehicle or airline seat and confirm any receiving hospital at the destination.
Our team accompanies the patient throughout and hands over directly to the receiving physicians.
Where we operate
We work through a network of offices and delegates positioned around the world, all operating to the same procedures and criteria. When a case opens, we activate whichever team is closest to the point of origin or destination.
Our team
We are a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses and other specialists in aviation medicine, logistics and medical repatriation, providing a supportive, local service to anyone who has an accident or falls ill abroad.
